Company History

"Bix's Academy of Hapkido" began on March 13, 1990 with two students in a one-car garage in Lee's Summit, Missouri. It has grown into a 2,600 square foot training facility with over 75 active students currently enrolled. Hundreds of people from all walks of life have trained here in this unique self-defense style.

Master Bix started training in Hapkido in 1981and earned his Black Belt in 1984. In 1993 he was promoted to Certified Instructor- 4th Degree Black Belt. In 2003 after many years of dedicated training and instruction, he was promoted to Master Instructor- 6th Degree Black Belt, then earned his 7th Degree in 2010.

In 1990, Master Bix opened "Bix's Academy of Hapkido" in Lee's Summit, Missouri. In 1993, the academy moved to its current location in Harrisonville, Missouri, and is certified by the American Institute of Modern Hapkido Instruction (AIMHI).

Master Bix co-founded the American Institute of Modern Hapkido Instruction and serves on the Executive Board as the Chairman of the Board of Promotions.

Master Bix's unique and highly effective teaching style has produced many award winning Instructors and Black Belts of all ages.
